Yesterday when I got in my car to head to work, Bobby Wills was on the radio (I'm perpetually tuned to the country station) singing If It Was That Easy
"Anyone can throw a touchdown from their own easy chair. It's a whole different game when it's you out there. You can stand there on the sidelines, know what you need to do, but everything changes when the pressure's on you."
I sing and dance when I'm driving, so go ahead and picture that...
I know this song is about moving on and letting go but for me it is also about being present and when I sing that line "If it was that easy" I experience a thrilling realization that it is that easy. This moment is easy. This life is amazing, thrilling, and endlessly engaging.
The mural project is nearing completion! I am about to head into the sky. The other artists on the project - Lori Merrill, Denise McGillivray, Micky McCulley, Alison Webb, and Alison Chretien Sharp - are nearly done their trees. I am LOVING doing this. I love the interactions with people passing by. I love how the artists on this project have injected their own style and interpretation of the original design onto the wall. I love painting this large! I love Golden Paint and I'm very grateful to Lori and Sidewalkers for funding and supporting this project and to SpeeDee Printers for letting us go at their wall. I even love being up on the scaffold! I love the mother tree above and behind me, and the ravens that are so often present. I love hearing the sounds of children playing coming through the forest behind the store. I love the intense "beingness" that 'going to the wall' entails. I'm also very grateful for the support of Ontological Life Coaching being provided to me by Harold Feddersen without which I would not have attempted this mural.
Super fun, challenging, engaging project! Super fun challenging, engaging LIFE! It is that easy!
